An on-grid (grid-tied) solar system connects your solar panels directly to your local distribution utility — whether that’s Meralco in Metro Manila and CALABARZON, VECO in Cebu, DLPC in Davao, or any of the country’s electric cooperatives. During the day, your system generates electricity that powers your home or business first. Any surplus is automatically exported to the grid and credited to your bill through the Philippine government’s Net Metering program, established under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 (RA 9513) and regulated by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

A hybrid solar system pairs your solar panels with a battery bank and a hybrid inverter. During daylight hours, solar energy powers your property and charges the batteries simultaneously. At night, or whenever your distribution utility experiences an outage, the battery automatically keeps your essential appliances running — no generator fumes, no fuel refilling, no noise. Hybrid systems are fully net-metering eligible under RA 9513, so you still earn bill credits for surplus power exported to the grid.

Under DOE Circular DC2026-01-00012 issued in April 2026, commercial and industrial consumers can now register up to 1 MW of rooftop solar under the net metering program — a tenfold increase from the previous 100 kW cap. Businesses with multiple properties in the same distribution utility service area can also share energy credits across accounts under the February 2026 multi-site net metering reform, dramatically improving the commercial economics of a single large installation.
